A recent review of nearly 150 studies on social ties confirms that these RNs have the right idea. A lively circle of close friends results in greater physical and mental health, say experts at Johns Hopkins University. Supportive relationships help keep memory sharp, reduce stress and boost immunity – all factors associated with aging.
And let’s not forget that not only does travel nursing allow you to meet new people (a great way to keep the ol’ gray matter active), it also allows you to reconnect with friends and family. Got a favorite cousin in the midwest who you rarely get to see? Don’t hesitate to ask your Consultant if there’s a travel nursing job available nearby.
Sometimes traveling with a companion is the way to go. Many RN’s have gone on assignment with a spouse or a fellow travel nurse. Anyway you slice it, travel nursing can be a great way to keep your social calendar booked and your lifestyle rewarding!
In my opinion travel is one of the best perks from travel nursing. You’ve listed a bunch of great reasons why. After you have been a travel nurse for a while, you will realize it is also a small community. Even though you may be traveling the US (or even outside the US) you will run into some of the same people again. It’s a fun way to have new experiences!

It is great to see someone creating a destination for all the travelling nurses. It can be difficult both emotionally & physically to always be on the move but it is worth it when you feel fulfilled by your career! Thank you & keep up the great work!

It’s one of the best jobs in the world but the risk is that if you got assigned in a country that isn’t stable economic and order wise. The mere fact that you can dedicate your life to others is such a noble job.

Being a nurse is already such a rewarding experience, but when you get to travel and meet all kinds of people its such a great feeling. I feel like I may run into the same people sometimes, but I feel like I’m spreading help across the country. I love being a travel nurse!

I think travel nursing is an exciting nursing career as it enables the opportunity to work in different settings and cities. No more monotonous work! A couple of questions. Does travel nursing offer the same opportunities for both RN’s and RPN’s? Also, are you paid by an agency at the same rate where ever you are placed, or does it differ based on state? Thanks for the information.
